The current convergence of two monsoons has caused heavy rainfall, leading to flooding across the entire Male’ city today.

Since early morning, continuous heavy rain in Male’ has caused severe flooding on the streets. This includes major flooding along the entire length of the busy Majeedhee Magu.

Almost all inner streets of Male’ are in a similar condition.

Regarding the current rainfall, a Met Office official told “Mihaaru” that this is a period where two monsoons converge, which will result in occasional heavy rainfall.

According to the official, bad weather conditions will persist throughout the Maldives for the next three days.

Due to the heavy rainfall, a yellow alert has been issued for the area from B. Atoll to V. Atoll. The Met Office predicts winds up to 45 miles per hour in these areas with rough seas.

The Met Office forecasts that these weather conditions will continue to affect these regions.”
